looking at the american frontier HOLISTICALLYOnce exploring all the aspects of the American frontier in depth, one can draw conclusions about the overall nature and general themes about the American frontier, creativity, and curiosity. Holistically, the idea that the American frontier is infinite, and will never cease to exist, has been pointed out by numerous sources. The American frontier will always continue to evolve. It began as the back-country regions of the backcountry, and now it's outer space. The American frontier and the degree of complexity are proportionate-- as the frontier advances, the frontier perpetually becomes more complex. To many, it appears that American creativity and curiosity play a little role in the frontier, especially the physical frontier. However, when assembling this site, I have found it useful to look at the American frontier with an entirely different perspective, one that is unconventional and contrary to one's intuition. When one hears the term, for example, "Manifest Destiny," curiosity is not the word that first comes up to mind. Only when looking at a general pattern and the holistic picture of the Manifest Destiny can one begin to see the creativity and curiosity that had instrumental roles in the advancement of the frontier.
The idea that creativity and curiosity have major roles in the metaphorical frontier, especially in regards to the frontier of knowledge & technology is apparent, as thousands of amateurs, ranging from fields such as astronomy to history, are constantly contributing to society, only motivated by their genuine curiosity. Lastly, the frontier impacted American society in numerous ways-- it fostered the development of democracy, created a distinct "American culture", it united society while simultaneously resulting in the near destruction of the nation, and it greatly improved the rights of certain groups while destroying that of another group. The frontier is an unforgettable, principle force in America, one that no other country had the advantage of having, and one can only contemplate and ponder on what the frontier has in store for us Americans in the future. |
